Things to See in the Lanzarote South
These four sights in the south of Lanzarote are insider tips and should not be missing on any to do list:
Salinas de Janubio

One of the most remarkable sights in the south: The Janubio salt fields. They are the only ones in Lanzarote. The square salt pans are placed chessboard-like – although not that exact. Due to their different colors, they give the impression to be an oversized art work. Their colors vary due to the different degree of evaporation of the water. The Janubio seawater lagoon borders directly on the salt fields, the lake in turn shines greenish due to the algae that live in it.
Faro de Punta Pechiguera

At the southwesternmost point of Lanzarote, where the waves roar against the cliffs, you will find the Faro de Punta Pechiguera lighthouse. At this site the old, 10 meter high tower and the modern, 50 meter tower share the attention of the visitors. Although the apartment complexes of Playa Blanca are not far behind the building, this place conveys peace and seclusion.
Femés

Femés is a picturesque little village at the foot of the Atalaya de Femés volcano. The white houses cluster around the village square with the Ermita San Marcial del Rubicón church, inside which you can admire old representations of sailing ships. At the far end of the village square you will find one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the south. The locals call it Balcón de Femés and it offers a breathtaking view to the south. From here you look over the El Rubicón plain and the Los Ajaches mountains until up to Playa Blanca.
Punta de Aguila
You can reach this headland on foot from Playa Blanca. The small fortress Castillo de las Coloradas is standing here, which was once supposed to protect the south coast from pirate attacks. The view from this point is simply breathtaking you can see the two islands Isla de Lobos and Fuerteventura. And if you turn your head a little further to the left, you will also discover the wonderful beaches of Playas de Papagayo.
