Hotels, Sightseeing & Excursions in Playa Blanca
Most of the tourist centers of the larger Canary Islands emerged from small fishing villages. And this was also the case with Playa Blanca. The place was once far away from tourism and was only poorly connected to the existing transport infrastructure. Its inhabitants lived for a long time from what the sea gave them. From the 1990s onwards, this tranquil spot finally turned into what today is one of the largest tourist centers on Lanzarote. Today several hundred thousand people spend their holidays here every year. Nevertheless, Playa Blanca fortunately managed to preserve some of its original charm.
The resort is only separated from the Timanfaya National Park by the large and dry plain called El Rubicón. Therefore, you can quickly reach the spectacular manifestation of the volcanic past of the island from Playa Blanca. Also some of the guided excursions from Playa Blanca lead you to the national park. One of the best sights of the town on the south coast are certainly its white sandy beaches. The harbor town hasn’t been called “White Beach” for nothing and it really pays tribute its name in this regard. And last but not least, the resort impresses with the fact that its hotels and holiday resorts do not resemble the concrete bunkers of its neighboring islands, but instead they fit into the surroundings in a pleasant way. Find out here what sights to visit in Playa Blanca and what else you can do there.
